This Facebook group is designed for people who are interested in or who are a part of an organic church.
To be approved to join, you must answer the membership questions.
The following is from the group admins.
This is the largest organic church group online with just under 4,000 members and growing.
The purpose of the group is to discuss organic church life for those interested in organic church.
The term “organic church” means many things to different people, but one definition that’s held by many practitioners comes from T. Austin-Sparks who said:
“God’s way and law of fullness is that of organic life. In the Divine order, life produces its own organism, whether it be a vegetable, animal, human or spiritual. This means that everything comes from the inside. Function, order and fruit issue from this law of life within. It was solely on this principle that what we have in the New Testament came into being. Organized Christianity has entirely reversed this order.”
Everyone who is added to the group must join themselves and agree to the rules (a common practice of the best Facebook groups).
Here are the rules for the group to ensure safety and that the group is focused on its purpose – which is to have civil conversations related to organic church life.
There are only 5 simple rules:
1. Personal attacks of any kind, including people in or outside the group in any form (links to defaming sites, accusations, hearsay, gossip) will not be tolerated. Such comments will be deleted and the person who made them removed from the group.
2. If you have an issue with anyone, or a concern about them, go to them directly and privately as Jesus taught instead of slamming them in a public forum. You would want the same if it were you being talked about. Jesus said, “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” To do otherwise is sin and it will not be tolerated in this group.
3. Posts should be related to organic church life. If a post isn’t related to organic church, it won’t be approved. There are hundreds of Facebook groups that focus on theology and devotions. This is not one of those groups.
4. Never ask people to message you with their email address. If you have something to offer them, just post the resource in the group. Or post a link where they can download it freely or in exchange for an email. But asking them to message you with their email isn’t appropriate as it’s a breach of privacy.
5. Do not link to old and outdated “house church” directories. These so-called “directories” are between 20 and 30 years old so most of the entries don’t exist. Of the ones that do, virtually all of them are not organic churches. Most “house churches” in our time aren’t organic.
If you made it this far, please “like” and comment “I read this.”
This will help make the post more visible for others.
Thank you.
